Linux Debian (Buster) crash on start up

You need an updated build, 6994 is old. That error is usually caused on current Linux distros by the shipped freetype prebuilt being too old, which our current builds don’t any longer use. Current builds are linked here:

http://nightly.singularityviewer.org

It appears you may also need to install gconf2:

sudo apt-get install libgconf-2-4
