Started happening a week ago or so. The login screen stays black. Login works fine. But there's no image, no information, no nothing. Two build versions have been doing this to us on two separate computers (see attached pictures). I have spoken to other Singularity users – this problem does not seem to be common.
I noticed it started to happen as LL started to upgrade the web site, however Sovereing said it was not related to the web upgrades, but a coincidence. I also noticed the splash screen load in other viewers.
From a technical perspective, Singularity "wraps" a grid's login splash screen within an iframe element. With the recent web properties work that Linden Lab did, they decided to put a block on their login splash screen that prohibits their page from being viewed within a frame structure. That is why the Second Life login splash page is blank at present.
Singularity is a viewer that allows one to login into a couple of hundred (at last count) different metaverse grids, of which Second Life is one. For all of the other grids, their login splash pages load just fine in Singularity. Unfortunately, due to the block that Linden Lab added to theirs, it will not be displayed given Singularity's current method of delivering that page to its users.
The developers were discussing how to get around the Linden block so the page can be displayed without breaking a feature that is working fine for the OpenSimulator based grids.
Sappadilli – thank you for the very clear explanation. I understand now )
In Windows. FIX: Open "Debug Settings" and set SingularitySplashPagePrefix without URL (Blank). It will load the default Secondlife splash screen.
